ARE WE HERE YET? learning balance in our busy
lives
Stress and multi-tasking are taking their toll—on us and on our children. We
always seem to be going somewhere in a hurry, but do we know where we are going
or why we’re in such a rush to get there? In our busy lives of juggling
careers, kids, and carpools, it is easy to run on automatic, and miss a sense
of real connection to ourselves and to our family.
Join us as author and psychotherapist Denise Roy shares practices and tools
that will help us move out of overwhelm and into a place of relaxing into our
lives as parents. We will learn how to call upon our own wisdom and humor and
understanding of what it is we need and what our children need. We will also
learn how to teach these sanity-saving strategies to our children so that they
might be happier and more resilient.
CELEBRATING FAMILY SPIRIT: everyday rituals and traditions
that make a difference
Children (of all ages!) love and need patterns in their lives—rituals,
celebrations, traditions, the cycle of the seasons. Research is showing that
family rituals make children more resilient, as well as strengthen family
bonds. Join author and psychotherapist Denise Roy for an inspiring and
fun-filled talk about all the good things that rituals do for children. You
will also learn how to: • make ordinary moments extraordinary • identify upcoming rites of passage in your family • recognize the value of what happens around your kitchen table • create ways to deepen and celebrate life and love in your own home.
MOMFULNESS: parenting with mindfulness,
compassion, and grace
Are you feeling overwhelmed, stretched in a hundred different directions? Would
you like to learn simple and transformative practices that can be woven into
your everyday life? Denise Roy, psychotherapist and author of Momfulness
and My Monastery Is a Minivan, offers an insightful, enjoyable
program on ways to find moments of calm and wholeness in our busy days. You
don’t have to be a mom to benefit from practices such as Upside-Down Seeing,
Mouth Yoga, Hug Meditation, and Late-for-School Practice.
MINDFUL PARENTING
Everyone is busy today, but most especially parents, as we juggle careers,
kids, and carpools. How do we get in touch with what we really long for when
we're pulled in so many different directions? How can we be more aware of the
grace that permeates our everyday, ordinary lives? In this seminar we'll
discuss sanity-saving strategies for slowing down, finding some semblance of
peace, and enjoying life. Come discover ways to be more present and mindful
with your family and with yourself.
MAKING A HOME FOR PEACE: in our hearts, in our families,
in our world
Peace is possible. It is available to us in every moment. Sometimes, this seems
hard to believe. In the midst of our hectic schedules and the turmoil of the
world, peace can seem very far away. Families can feel fragmented, and the
needs of those in our community can seem overwhelming. But there is so much we
can do to make a difference! In this seminar we'll explore how to experience
peace at every level of life: within our own hearts, within our families,
within our community, and within the larger world.
UNCOVERING SACRED MOMENTS: writing as a practice
Every life is a story, one that we are always in the process of discovering and
creating. When we write down our stories, we begin to experience our world
differently. We begin to get in touch with the realm of the creative that is
woven into our world. In this seminar we will do some simple writing exercises
that will allow us to see the meaning and mystery that are already present in
our everyday lives.
Denise is available to give talks that are specifically tailored to your

“It was wonderful and inspiring to see you in action! You are a natural orator and had the audience enraptured. Your talk hit so many personal points for me, I can't tell you! We've already started the candle ritual last night and the kids LOVED it.”
“I would like to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the blessings you sent into our lives over the weekend. How could any of us know what kind of positive effect such a simple event could have on our lives? I have found tools for living my life with my family that I didn't know I had.”
“Thank you the gift of this past weekend. You were just what my heart and soul needed. I traveled to see you because I wanted to get to know more about you, the author of my FAVORITE book that touches my soul each time I re-read it. What a kind, gentle spirit you are.”
